Shanxi University of TCM
Shanxi University of TCM, was formally founded in June 1989, authorized by the State Educational Committee after 7 years of construction. In 2002, it starts to recruit overseas students. In 2004, it accepted Taiyuan Railway Central Hospital and Taiyuan Railway Tuberculosis Hospital,SXTCM thus becoming the center of scientific research and medicine in Shanxi Province.
The school covers an area of 174,698.46 square meters, including a floor space of 121,796.40 square meters with a fixed asset of 158 million Yuan, (with 31.8471 million Yuan for teaching and scientific research equipment) and a collection of 381,600 volumes in the library. It consists 54 faculty working offices and 14 laboratories.
The university boasts a strong and qualified teaching faculty of 287 teachers, with 50 professors, 56 associate professors, (accounting for 36.93% of the total); 154 with master's degree and above (accounting for 53.66% of the total).4 of them are entitled to the State Council special allowance; 3 have honorably been awarded "Famous Teacher of Shanxi Province", 2 "Model Teacher of Shanxi Province", 2 "Outstanding University Teacher on Political Theory of Shanxi Province"; 7 entitled by other TCM collages as tutors of doctoral students and 19 as tutors of master students; 34 as editors-in-chief and editors of teaching materials for higher Chinese medicine education, 14 as editors of high-quality teaching materials for the national ordinary higher Chinese medicine education.
The university has graduated more than 3,600 students with bachelor’s degree since 1986, many of whom are now playing important roles in their positions. At present it has on its campus 4,266 undergraduates, 142 full-time adult undergraduates and 404 undergraduates for correspondence course.
The university attaches great importance to academic research and technological innovation and keeps enhancing its research capability, with nearly 200 books and over 500 academic articles published altogether in recent years and 105 scientific research programs of all kinds, including 2 programs funded by the national "11th Five-Year Plan" Science And Technology Supporting Programs, 6 programs funded by National Natural Science Fund Committee, 6 programs funded the National Science and Technology Ministry, 6 programs funded by State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, national researching support amounting to 11 million Yuan. 14 national and provincial prizes have been won. It also raises money to implement two programs respectively known as “the Herald” and “Climbing”. It encourages technical innovation, activates academic atmosphere and impels the scientific research work.
The school places great emphasis on cultivation of the students' practice skills and increasingly strengthens the construction of teaching bases. There are 3 subordinate and 12 non-subordinate affiliated hospitals, 7 affiliated hospitals for students' learning and 5 affiliated hospitals for students' clinical practice as well as 8 pharmacy practice bases for different needs.
In recent years, the university has been broadly developing international exchanges and cooperation. It has established a new pattern of international exchanges and cooperation, which have diversified cooperative targets and forms. The content involves academic exchanges, cooperation in research projects, exchanging experts and overseas students and etc. The development of the international communication and cooperation makes the discipline constructions and scientific research developing at a faster speed and promotes the university to a higher level.

Application for Admission
I、 Foreigners wishing to study at Shanxi University of TCM and satisfying the college requirements are eligible for applying directly to the college. Those wishing to study as adult students or students for advanced studies need to provide diplomas and transcripts, and indicate the majors they are interested in. Those wishing to study as an undergraduate need to provide secondary school diploma, a transcript of his final year of study in the secondary school, and results of .the Chinese proficiency Test (HSK) The college, has the right to decide whether to issue admission forms and physical examination forms to applicants or not. Such forms are also needed for undergraduate enrolling through an entrance examination.
II、 After receiving the admission form sent by the school, applicants must fill it out with correct information requested and submit it along with the following original documents.
(1) Application Forms for Admission to Shanxi University of TCM for overseas students, with recent passport-size photo attached.
(2) Certificates and transcripts
a. Those wishing to study as adult students need to submit certificates of their highest qualifications as well as transcripts.
b. Those wishing to come for advanced studies and research need to submit certificates of their highest qualifications, achievement in scientific research and intended areas of research.
c. Those wishing to study as undergraduate students, after passing entrance examinations, should also submit their secondary school graduation certificates and transports.
d. Undergraduates enrolled, who have previously submitted the above documents are exempt from this requirement.
(3) Letters of Recommendations (Chinese, English or Japanese Original)
Secondary school graduates should refer to their school or work unit for recommendations.
(4) Applications should attach a photo to the Physical Examination Records for foreigners. The physical examination form and blood test results should be signed and dated by the physician. Photocopies of these documents at the fine of application are acceptable. Original ones will be checked after enrollment.
(5) Money order of US $ 50 for application fee should be sent by registered mail together with Jw201 or Jw202 form to International Education Center of Shanxi University of TCM two months prior to enrollments.
