Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine
Lying in the Central Plains of China, Henan is the cradle of Chinese civilization and used to be the political, economical and cultural center in ancient times. Henan is also the roots of Chinese Medicine being the hometown of ZHANG ZHONGJING a great celebrity in Chinese Medicine history.
Henan is also the place where Taiji boxing originated and the most densely-populated province in China. Henan ranks the first in terms of underground relics, with 8 state-nominated historic and cultural cities or towns. Among the 8 ancient capitals four are located in Henan, i.e. Anyang, Luoyang, Kaifeng, and Zhengzhou.
Founded in 1958, Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (HUTCM) has 3 campuses in the capital city of Zhengzhou with a total land area of 1727mu, being the only higher institution of Chinese Medicine in Henan province. HUTCM is also among the first that were approved by the MOE to enroll international students and students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. HUTCM consists of 12 schools covering medicine, management, engineering science and arts with over 10000 students. HUTCM is the Education Base of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) as well as a branch of International Acupuncture Level Examination Department of the WFAS. HUTCM has presently 2518 teaching staff with 15 research institutes, 1 post-doctoral position and 3 affiliated hospitals. under it, being the leading institution in Henan province in medical treatment, research and education of Chinese Medicine .In the recent 3 years HUTCM has undertaken over 170 research programs at provincial and ministerial levels including the “973”, “863” and the “11th-5-year Plan” programs. HUTCM was assessed by the MOE to have done well in undergraduate teaching activities.
